Biography

Mr. Wilberforce Ojiambo is the University Bursar. He is a talented finance professional with vast experience in financial management in the private sector, local and international NGOsas well as public sector. Having held several senior administrative positions with different entities, he brings to Busitema University over 20 years of professional experience in banking, auditing, grants management, microfinance, human resource, accounting, finance, and administration. He is a veteran in institutional systems strengthening, financial management, budgetary controls, and management of partnerships and collaborations. Wilberforce is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. Wilberforce recently qualified as a Certified Tax Advisor, a qualification offered by ICPAU. He also holds a Masters in Business Administration (Finance and Accounting)- IUIU, Post Graduate Diploma in Tax and Revenue Administration- East African Sch of Taxation, Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science and Information Technology-IUIU and Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting ( MUK). He was formerly employed with Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU), one of the leading NGOs in this country in the health sector, as Director of Finance and Administration.  While at RHU, he registered a number of achievements related to improvement of financial reporting systems which enhanced donor reporting compliance and also enabled the institution to win a number of Financial Reporting Awards. Besides that, he also initiated a number of innovations such as the asset replacement reserve fund. Through that innovation of a reserve fund, RHU acquired new solid assets like vehicles and buildings which improved the institution's overall sustainability strategy and enhanced donor confidence. Wilberforce has lectured CPA taxation papers for several years at World-Class Business Tutors and continues to mentor CPA students in various subjects. He is committed to the improvement of financial reporting at Busitema University and hopes to institute a number of innovations. He is working with programs and Faculties to boost the existing sources of local revenue and also explore other potential sources. He has set strict financial reporting timeliness for the finance team and also supported programs to improve the quality and timeliness of preparing accountabilities. He believes in transparency and timely sharing of information with staff and students. He has encouraged and supported staff to effectively participate in the budgeting process and believes in motivating others to generate new ideas and innovations.  He hopes to improve the University’s compliance framework through staff training, benchmarking with other entities as well as continuous systems reviews and improvements.
