Joy is a teaching assistant at Busitema University's Faculty of Health Sciences. She carries out laboratory practicals, tutorials, and lectures under this appointment. Joy has a Master of Science in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences and Management from Makerere University as well as a degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology. She has been successful in reviving the practical training partnership between the laboratory at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH) and the faculty of health sciences at Busitema University. The students can now perform hands-on practicals for tests that could not be performed in the Busitema University Laboratories due to a lack of equipment in the MRRH main lab. Currently, she works both as a teaching assistant and a lab technician for practicals and tutorials. At the Busitema University Faculty of Health Sciences, she has trained students on bench work and guided them through "hands on" practicals using her experience. This enables medical students to be grounded in real-world experience in addition to classroom learning.
