Dr. Gerald Zirintunda is a highly accomplished veterinary professional with a PhD in Veterinary Medicine of Makerere University, complemented by MSc in International Animal Health from the University of Edinburgh and specialized training in Vaccinology from the University of Oxford and the Jenner Institute. He also holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine of Makerere University and additional certifications in educational pedagogy and industrial training. He has built a strong career in academia, serving as teaching staff at Busitema University where he delivers both theoretical and practical instruction in areas such as parasitology, veterinary public health, dairy science, and animal production. Through his teaching, he is dedicated to mentoring students, nurturing innovation, and transforming learners into skilled and responsible professionals.
Beyond academia, Dr. Gerald has extensive practical and regulatory experience, having served as a National Veterinary Inspector at Malaba Border, where he oversees the inspection of animals and animal products and contributes to policy guidance for both local and international trade.
He is also A member of professional bodies such as the Uganda Veterinary Association, World Veterinary Association, and the British Society of Parasitologists, he has also contributed to research with publications on zoonotic diseases and livestock health.
Motivated to succeed against all odds, his career objective is to transform livestock production into a sustainable and economically viable enterprise for communities through the integration of veterinary expertise and business innovation.
