Dr. Abubakar Mwasa is a mathematician and academic currently serving as Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Mathematics at Busitema University. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from Linköping University, an MSc from University of Dar es Salaam, and a BSc in Education (Mathematics/Physics) from Islamic University in Uganda.
Dr. Mwasa has lectured extensively in pure and applied mathematics, including calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and mathematical modelling. His academic journey spans roles from Teaching Assistant to Senior Lecturer at Busitema University, alongside his ongoing position as Visiting Lecturer at IUIU.
His research focuses on mathematical analysis, particularly nonlinear elliptic equations, as well as epidemiology and modelling of infectious diseases. He has published in reputable international journals and contributed to studies on cholera dynamics and boundary value problems.
Dr. Mwasa has actively participated in international conferences and workshops across Africa and Europe, and has supervised postgraduate research in industrial mathematics. He is also engaged in academic leadership, curriculum development, and professional service within university and community institutions.
