George Edema Taako is currently at his final stages of completing his Ph.D. studies in Environmental Governance and Management at the University of Nairobi, Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Earth and Climate Sciences. His Ph.D. research is in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) particularly assessing the institutional, legal and Regulatory framework for EIA, the role and capacity of key categories of EIA stakeholders and their influence on the implementation of EIA follow–up focusing on processing and manufacturing industries. He also holds a Master's of Economic Policy and Planning from Makerere University in addition to Bachelor of Education degree with majors in Economics and Geography from Islamic University in Uganda(IUIU). He is a member of the International Association for Impact Assessment; the leading Global Network on Impact Assessment. He has over 18 years of University teaching experience in different public and private universities such as Busitema University, Gulu University and IUIU as well as Uganda Martyrs University .In his recent 10 years of teaching, his efforts have been tireless in training undergraduate students in mainstreaming the principles of economics to the use/exploitation of natural and environmental resources and integration of natural and environmental resource valuation techniques into EIA or generally impact assessment. Recently, efforts have been geared towards research into the practice of EIA as a key tool for achieving sustainable development within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). His current outreach activity is strengthening vegetable oil seeds value chains particularly soyabean through agro-forestry systems targeting women because when you empower a woman you empower families, communities and the nation at large through a stimulus grant from the SNV; the Netherlands Development Organization SUPREME–Economic Empowerment project. He is also creating women as entrepreneurs in clean cooking energies through skilling and creating marketing linkage.
