Prof. Wandabwa currently serves as the Dean of the faculty of health sciences at Busitema University and is a professor of obstetrics and gynecology. He holds an MBChB, a Master of Medicine in obstetrics and gynecology from Makerere University, and a PhD from the University of London. At Busitema and Makerere University, he served as chair of the department of obstetrics and gynecology. At Walter Sisulu University in South Africa, he served as a member of the higher degree committee and chaired the high degree committee at Busitema University. At Makerere College of Health Sciences, he also held the positions of senior lecturer and department head of obstetrics and gynecology. worked as a senior consultant and senior lecturer at Walter Sisulu University in South Africa and King Faisal Hospital in Rwanda. In South Africa and Uganda, he has supervised PhD and masters-level students. He received FIGO and Common Wealth scholarships. He has worked as the site primary investigator on a new device for managing pregnancy-related hypertension in a low resource environment.He studied the mechanical and surgical therapy of postpartum hemorrhage while his training at Liverpool University's Women's Hospital. He has contributed to the implementation of maternal health research in eastern Uganda. He is an ETOO course trainer in Uganda with support from ACOG. He possesses knowledge and skills in medical health provider training, research leadership, and duty performance that is goal-oriented. He is currently a co-investigator on a study that is still being conducted in Mbale called "A cluster randomised trial to evaluate the effectiveness of household alcohol-based hand rub for the prevention of sepsis, diarrhoea, and pneumonia in Ugandan infants." Severe Maternal Morbidity and Mortality is his main area of interest in obstetrics and gynecology. He has natured collaboration with SEED Global Health, Liverpool Women’s Hospital, SAfRI, Walter Sisulu University, Gulu University and Makerere University.
