Biography

Dr. Sowedi Masaba is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences at Busitema University. Sowedi holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Governance and Management from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Science in Environment and Natural Resources from Makerere University, Bachelor of Arts in Education (Economics/Geography) Degree from Islamic University in Uganda. Sowedi teaches Disaster Risk Management; Environmental Policy, Law and Governance; and Climate Change at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Sowedi’s research interests focus on disaster risk reduction policy and governance. Sowedi has supervised several graduate and undergraduate students’ research projects to completion. Sowedi has also held several leadership positions as Head of the Department for Environmental Planning and Management, Faculty Deputy Dean, and Chairperson for the Faculty Higher Degrees and Research Committee.

  • September 2022 to date: Co-Principal Investigator for Busitema University Research Fund Project titled “Women, the frontliners of climate change in Butaleja District, Eastern Uganda”.
