Biography

Remigio Turyahabwe is a Geographer who holds a Ph.D. in Environmental science with a special bias in aquatic environment from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), a Masters of Arts in Geography with special bias in soil science from Kyambogo University and Bachelors of Arts with Education from Kyambogo University. 
He is the current Head of Department Geography and a lecturer of Geography, Department of Geography, Faculty of Science and Education, Busitema University - Uganda..
Dr. Remigio Turyahabwe has over 15 years' working experience in teaching and research both at higher education and secondary school and is involved in postgraduate research supervision and has published several papers. Before joining Busitema University, he served as secondary school geography teacher at Nakateete S.S- Kyazanga, Lwengo district (2007 - 2010). 

His areas of teaching at higher education include Geomorphology, Environmental impact assessment, World physical environmental systems, Spatial organization of the human environment, Geography of world economies, Research methods in geography, Practical geography, Population geography, Geography of Africa, Geography of Uganda, Development of modern geography’ Elements of physical geography, Principles of resource management and conservation, Remote sensing and G.I.S, Geography of Anglo-America, Hydrology, Field laboratory techniques, quantitative and research methods in geography, Applied climatology, 

His research interest is in aquatic environment with special attention to aquatic ecosystems; health monitoring specifically, water quality, macro invertebrates, fish ecology and habitat quality. He also has done environmental impact assessment and aquatic ecosystem health restoration on many Rivers of eastern Uganda.

Dr. Remigio Turyahabwe also serves the community in other different capacities with different responsibilities. He is the Chair Board of Governors Kawere Memorial High school sice 2020, Chair board of Director Bright high school- Mukoko, Kalungu District since 2012, The Executive director- Kampala western friends Ltd since 2014, Member land management committee, Busitema university since 2018, and also a member of the finance committee, Faculty of science and education, Busitema University since 2016.
