Biography

With more than ten years of experience in agricultural education, Turyasingura is a self-driven, vivacious, diligent, and committed agricultural educationist. He has a passion for research that aims to increase food security and the markets for agricultural products through value addition and participatory approaches. He is currently a Lecturer and the acting Department Head for Crop Production and Management at Busitema University's Arapai Campus' Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Sciences. He assists in teaching students about agricultural extension, soil, water, and environmental management, agroforestry, agricultural concepts and practices, harvest and post-harvest management, and sustainable farming methods at the faculty. Among his other responsibilities, he also oversees the research projects of undergraduate students. Additionally, he was the driving force behind the development and review of the agricultural curricula for the faculty's certificate, diploma, undergraduate, and graduate agricultural programs. As the acting department chair, a member of the faculty board, faculty finance committee, faculty appointments board, and member of the Exam malpractices and Irregularities Committee, Turya is actively active in faculty leadership. He also serves as the patron of the Arapai Campus of St. Andrews Church of Uganda. Turyasingura worked as a senior lecturer at the previous Arapai Agricultural College before joining Busitema University. While there, he held additional positions such as head of the Crop Science department, member of the college's governing council as the academic staff's representative, chair of the staff welfare committee, and UNEB examiner for Uganda Technical examinations.
