Dr. Watema Joash Robert Alex currently serves as a Lecturer at Busitema University Department of Economics and management, where he teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, supervises research, and actively engages in academic publishing and community outreach.
He holds a PhD in Economics of Moi University (Kenya), an MBA of Makerere University, and a Bachelor of Science with Education (Economics and Mathematics) of Makerere University. His doctoral research focused on income components and household welfare in Uganda, reflecting his strong interest in development economics and poverty reduction.
Dr. Watema has extensive teaching experience spanning secondary and higher education institutions, including Busitema University, Kampala University, and Jinja Secondary School. Beyond teaching, he contributes to institutional leadership as Coordinator of the Faculty of Management Sciences Higher Degrees Committee and Chair of the Marketing Committee.
A published scholar, his research examines income diversification and welfare outcomes in developing economies. He is also committed to community service, providing career guidance to schools across eastern Uganda.
