Assoc.Prof David Kani Olema
Biography

David Kani Olema is an Associate Professor (Psychology) and the Dean Faculty of Science and Education, Busitema University. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychology from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), a Masters in Educational from Makerere University, College of Education and a Bachelors of Education, teacher education from Dar es salaam University, Tanzania. 
He is currently the Dean Faculty of Science and Education Busitema University and also an Associate professor of Psychology in the Department of Education at the Faculty. He has also served as a senior lecturer in the faculty and as a head of department from 2016 to 2019. 

Associate Professor Olema has over 27 years' working experience in teaching and research at higher education. Before he joined Busitema University, he served as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at Mbarara University of Science and Technology for over 10 years; a lecturer and tutor at the National Teachers College Kaliro, Professional Studies Department for over 9 years. 

He is involved in postgraduate research supervision and has published several papers in peer reviewed and open access and in National Examinations Boards International publications. He has participated as a peer reviewer for three international journals and the Uganda National Examinations Board Publications. 
He has served as an external examiner at different universities including the University of Dar es Salaam (2017 to 2019) and the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU)
He has also served as a chair of different higher education committees including the Faculty of Science and Education Graduate Studies Committee of Busitema University; Faculty Quality Assurance Committee; Chair Psychology; Coordinator Faculty Examinations Committee and a Coordinator School Practice at Mbarara University of Science and technology. He also served as the President Vivo (Uganda) for over 5 years and he is a Director of Queens Comprehensive College Kaliro since 2003. He has also served as a member to the NTC Kaliro Council between 2004 and 2008. Over the years, Associate professor Olema has mentored many students and lecturers. His areas of teaching at higher education include Human growth and development, Measurement and Evaluation in Education, Human Learning and Instruction, Adolescent Psychology, Guidance and Counselling, Psychopathology, Health Psychology, and Quantitative Research methods.  His areas of research include Psychopathology, Educational assessment, Violence and the Psychological consequences/PTSD related disorders, Education and related studies.

Outside academia, Associate Professor Olema is the president of Victims Voices (vivo) international Uganda Chapter; a proprietor of a Girls Secondary School (Girl-Child Education Advocate), Chairperson Board of Governors of Cornerstone S.S. Arua, Chairman School Management Committee for Busitema P/S, and many other community activities.
He is a member of Uganda Psychological Association, FAWE (Uganda), among others.
